First, business or economy
Economy. Whether it’s a long-haul flight to Europe or a short flight to Melbourne, economy allows me to get from A to B.
Favourite travel destination
The Greek islands or Switzerland. Both are so beautiful.

Favourite airport
Dubai. I admire how busy it is, and the atmosphere is energetic. Dubai is a vibrant city, full of life and excitement and that radiates, even in the airport.
If I ran my own airline I would …
Definitely enhance the food and beverage product and delivery in economy.
Where would you go with an unlimited travel budget?
I would go all over the world. A non-stop, multi-destination trip would be a dream come true.
Worst place you’ve been lost
I got lost once in Venice (it’s hard not to). The city is so magical, it’s not a bad place to get lost in.
Best trip ever
Three weeks with my now wife travelling through Greece, Switzerland and Austria.
Most memorable overseas dining
Private dining on a beach in the Maldives.
In the suitcase
Besides clothes and all the normal things, I never forget my headphones, a good book and my running gear to explore the destinations I visit.
First thing you do in a new city
Google great restaurants and bars. I’m a bit of a foodie and love to try the local beer.
How do you make the most of a spare afternoon in a strange city?
Sometimes the best afternoons are the ones that aren’t planned. I like to go for a run through an area I’ve not yet explored. There is always something interesting to see and it’s a great way to clear the mind.
Who would you most like to travel with and why?
My family. Time is precious with them and I’m keen to have my kids travel to new and exciting destinations while they’re young.
Cure for jet lag
Forcing myself to adjust to a new time zone as quickly as possible. Getting up and going for a run, getting brekkie and doing all the things I would do at home helps me feel normal while travelling.
Other travel tips
My best travel tip would be to always have a set of clothing in your carry-on. You never know when your bag could go missing on a flight or get lost in transit. Also, remember to drink plenty of water on long-haul flights. I highly recommend noise-cancelling headphones.
Is there anywhere you’d recommend for a special occasion?
Santorini. It’s super romantic and super beautiful. Everyone should visit this stunning Greek island at least once.
Best overseas purchase
Nike shoes in the United States. There is such a large range, and they were inexpensive, too.
Best travel experience
Seeing the Big Five in Africa – lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant and buffalo – was amazing.
Best thing about travelling
The opportunity it provides to experience a culture completely different from your own. Travelling allows you to enter a different world.
Top travel gripe
Clothes washing on the go! It’s never easy living out of a suitcase.
