It’s autumn in the southern hemisphere and spring in the north – either way, it’s a glorious time of the year to travel to the following destinations.
The Maldives
The monsoon season doesn’t start until about May, so a holiday to the Maldives at the moment should be lovely and warm (and dry). It should also be less crowded, as it’s coming in to the end of the high season. And it should also be mind-bogglingly beautiful because, you know, it’s the Maldives.

Everyone’s been saying you need to get to Cuba fast – and March is one of the best times to go, thanks to gorgeous temperatures (max 28°C) and blue, blue skies thanks to hardly any rain. Which, very handily, also makes it the ideal time to rent a cool convertible and take to the road.

Let’s be honest, gazing at the Argentinian Andes is going to be amazing at any time of the year, but the warm weather in March will also let you enjoy all sorts of outdoor activities, sights and events, including penguin-spotting in the Strait of Magellan.

The City of Angels is lovely place to be at this time of year, with max temperatures of about 21°C making it a positively angelic time to take to the streets in Beverly Hills, Venice Beach and the Hollywood Hills.
Rajasthan, India

March is one of the best times to visit Rajasthan in northwest India. The sweltering summer (when temperatures can reach 48°C!) has yet to start, but the monsoons are also over so you can keep dry while you view spectacular forts and palaces, such as the famous Pink Palace in the region’s capital, Jaipur.
