The number of UK travellers to The Maldives grew by 17.5% last month over March 2017.
This resulted a total for the month of 11,829 against 10,063 a year earlier.
The March figure meant a total of 32,633 UK tourists visited the Indian Ocean nation in the first quarter of 2018, up 12.2% year-on-year.
The total of global arrivals grew by 17% to reach 420,103 in the first three months of the year.
At least 23 new resorts are due to open this year including what is believed to be the world’s first undersea residence at Conrad Maldives Rangali Island in the fourth quarter of 2018.
Maldives’ tourism minister Moosa Zameer said: “The UK continues to establish itself as one of the most valuable inbound markets for tourism to the Maldives and with a number of exciting new tourism developments launching this year, we look forward to welcoming even more visitors during the remaining months of 2018.”
