Maldives has showcased its tourism at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai.
During the fair being held from Sunday to Wednesday at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, the Maldives delegation is led by tourism minister Moosa Zameer. He is accompanied by Haris Mohamed, the Acting Managing Director of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), and Dr Hussain Niyaz, the Ambassador Designate of Maldives for United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Over 126 representatives from 68 companies are showcasing their products at a 209 square metre destination stand, which features a new design concept that shows the natural beauty of the destination through colourful images.
During the four-day exhibition, special activities are being carried out at the Maldives stand to attract more visitors. This includes social media campaigns which aim to increase the online presence of the destination. Visitors will also have the opportunity to taste a variety of Maldivian snacks
The main focus for this year is meeting with airlines to identify mutually beneficial joint marketing avenues.

First held in 1994, ATM is now recognised as the largest travel trade show in the Middle East. It now attracts over 30,000 visitor.
The Middle East region, especially UAE and Saudi Arabia hold much potential. In 2017, a total of 49,193 tourists from the region visited the Maldives, while 11,898 Middle Eastern tourist arrived in the Maldives from January to March 2018 — an increase of five percent compared to the same period of last year.
Middle East is already the most well connected region to the Maldives. Daily flights from major regional carriers such as Emirates, Etihad Airways, Qatar Airways and Saudia operate direct flights to the Maldives.
