Gili Lankanfushi has announced plans to host an endurance event to mark the first ever Global Recycling Day.
The event, named “Paddle Against Plastic”, will take place on March 18 as part of Gili Lankanfushi’s continuous efforts against plastic. During the event, a team of hosts from the resort will undergo a 12km Stand Up Paddle (SUP) to raise awareness about the overuse of single use plastic in the Maldives.
“This endurance event aims to inspire others to reduce their dependence on plastic by physically collecting plastic from ocean surface whilst undergoing an enduring paddle to recognise our dedication to the cause,” an announcement by the resort read.
On 18 March, people around the world will come together for the first ever Global Recycling Day.
An initiative of Bureau of International Recycling, the Global Recycling Day aims to secure the future of our planet by conserving the world’s six primary resources and celebrating the power of the Seventh Resource – the goods all around us that we reuse and recycle every day.
