Three locals had not been issued with the visa for their travel to Germany for the global tourism and hospitality exposé ITB Fair over insufficient documents, according to Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation (MMPRC).
“The individuals did not get their visas because of insufficient paperwork,” the government owned marketing firm confirmed adding, “everyone from MMPRC received their visas for Germany.”
The trio who did not receive visas from Germany due to some undisclosed issues related to hotel bookings and bank statements.
“The reason they [Germany] explained for rejecting us with visas is quite absurd, they had claimed the visas were not granted over fear that we might not return back to our homeland,” one of the individuals whose visa application for the European nation was rejected claimed under anonymity.
Many whose visa applications were rejected had claimed the reason for Germany refusing to allow them to travel is due to the still ongoing state of emergency in Maldives.
More than 300 personnel from 104 different local tourism and hospitality ventures are expected to travel to Germany for the ITB Fair in 2018.
Regarded as the biggest travel and tourism convention, the ITB Fair attracts all the global players and corporations in hospitality and tourism industry including Maldives as one of the prominent appearances.
